SUMMARY:The Spirit of Life Exhibition at Art Works Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Art Works Gallery proudly presents “The Spirit of Life,” a joint exhibition by acclaimed artists Kate Florence and Sylvie Kettle. The exhibition opens at One Holland Village on 19 September and will run through 13 October 2024. This showcase explores the heart of existence, celebrating the vibrant pulse of humanity through dynamic, expressive artworks.\nThe Spirit of Life highlights the visceral spectrum of life experiences, from moments of joy and freedom to deeper reflections on existence where the intricate dance between the physical and the spiritual unfolds in vivid detail. With a keen emphasis on colour, atmosphere, and the human figure, the exhibition invites us to see the world through a lens of abundance and wonder.\nKate Florence (b. 1994) is a British artist now based in Queensland, Australia. Her work blends memories of her English countryside upbringing with imaginative depictions of everyday life. Florence’s use of warm, rich colours and dynamic negative space creates a nostalgic yet vibrant atmosphere. Her paintings explore themes of heritage, community, and the connection to the land, offering a reflective and process-driven approach to understanding identity and the passage of time.\nSylvie Kettle (b. 1999), an artist from the Northern Rivers, is celebrated for her evocative fusion of feminine landscapes and bold, spontaneous mark-making. Her work delves into the subconscious, creating a dreamlike world where archetypal beings and vibrant colours intersect. Kettle’s paintings invite viewers into a sensory exploration of spirit and light, offering a deeply personal reflection on\nthe human psyche and the delicate balance between spontaneity and considered creation.\n\n
